Looking for member's help for Eric's sons rod....

I just talked to Eric, I told him to let me ask the members if you have any blanks and components to build a 7' flyrod for his son Ezra. He wants it to be like a Echo Gecko kids rod. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks----Steve

I don't have any components or blanks but assuming it's a reasonable price I'll buy the blank.

That's great John, first kid's rods aren't going to be Sages! We'll be in touch.

Steve, I'll see what I can find tonight. I'll get back to you here.

Great Tim! Have some snakes for a 7' rod?
I do if he doesn't. I could provide some cork as well, if needed.

Thanks shopkeeper, I'll let you know.
Steve,
I have a fenwick style cork grip that should be good for little hands and will also provide the reelseat, what type of seat would you prefer - cap & ring or uplocking threaded? I'll turn the wood for the seat as well, just let me know what you can use and I'll get started putting it together.

Good morning Tim,
To keep this little rod light, can you make a sliding band seat please. It would also look cool as the Echo Gecko rod which we are styling it after has a rear grip like an extended fighting butt. Not sure of the color of the blank but let your artistic choices decide the wood! Thanks Tim.
Steve,
I can make it a sliding band but I am kind of worried that with a child it may be better to use a threaded seat to make sure the reel doesn't end up in the water when in use? With a little excitement I can see that happening! Your call, also with the additional cork in the fighting butt I am not sure that shouldn't be done with the threaded reelseat as well. I looked at the Echo rod and it appears they're using a Pac Bay threaded seat, please confirm your thoughts. Thanks.
I don't have anything to add in terms of rod building, but I wanted to give you guys a shout out. This is awesome!

Threaded will work just fine journeyman. The reel has to be secure if Ezra decides to sword fight or hack on some stream side vegetation! Boys will be boys......

Great big thanks to all that's going to make this rod possible! We have all the parts now to build Ezra's first flyrod. We'll post pictures of the build and pictures of a happy little boy receiving the rod his dad Eric built from pieces gathered from caring total strangers! Makes me warm inside....think I'll go crack a beer!---Steve :D

Steve, I agree Boys will be boys! I'll get started with this over the weekend. - Tim

Ron, with Southwest Custom Rods & Lemke Reelseats have donated a reel seat skeleton to be used with this rod. The reelseat is a great blue color and should look really good with the rod blank.

That's really cool Ron! Ezra thanks you as we'll as the rest of us! I can hardly wait to start this build with Eric...and I'm the lucky guy to meet Ezra! :D:D:D !!
I haven't said much but have check everyday, I want you guys to know how amazing you all are. This hole thing has been really hard and has tested me in more ways then one. Thank you for the comfort of be able to do something that will help we keep my mind off of this for a few hrs and teach my son to do something I love with a rod built for his dad. I am going to post a few pics of my son. And like Steve has said I will post of the build and him getting it and fishing with it, which is something I going to take him to do.
And a Really Big thanks to Steve for taking the time to do this.
