Trout Bum,
Your V2 casts like a club? I have a V2 in a 9' 6wt and have fished with it for about 3 years, roughly 200 plus days! It is a smooth medium action rod that has peformed well for me with floating, sink tip and full sinking lines. It has enough sensitivity to work in close and enough backbone to launch significant line for distance with control and accuracy.
Either you have a bad rod or you have set it up incorrectly.

trout bum; The rod is on the plus side of your ordinary 6wt line class, very light & powerfull. Heavy Trout / Summer Steel it shines. Much can be done with a rod like this.. 'my' favorite type of single hand rod.
