So here's the situation:
I lost my grandfather recently, and have spent a lot of time and money helping my family get through that situation. It's been a rough time to say the least. Some close family members and I have discussed pooling money to allow my grandma to fly up to Washington to take a well deserved break. I've been racking my brain with how I can come up with some money to help with this. Well the other night I got on here and read Evan's classified post selling his fly tying materials, and after several days of giving it some thought I have decided that I am in the same boat as Evan as far as my desire and enjoyment tying flies, and that I'm going to sell my material/equipment and use that money to help fund my grandma's trip. I have spent a lot of time and money trying to get into fly tying, and it really hasn't stuck. I'm not very good at it, I really don't get much enjoyment from it, and it just seems more trouble than it's worth. Not to mention as a single dad I just don't have that much time to dedicate to it.
So, with that said, I am offering up my entire lot of tying material and tools. There is far too much stuff to list, and I would really prefer to sell it all at once. Perhaps someone is looking at getting into tying? I dunno.
Tools:
Like new Danvise. I bought this about 2 months ago and have barely used it. Clamp mounted vise.
Older Griffin Patriot vise. Has seen better days cosmetically but is functional.
2 pairs of scissors
2 bobbins
whip finisher
hair stacker
one of those needle tools and a few other odds and ends.
Also have one of those heavy based tying lamps with a big manifiying glass that attatches. Both the light and the glass can be positioned over the fly for use, then quickly pushed out of the way when not needed.
Material:
Far too much to list here, but a wide selection of threads, dubbing, maribou, various body material, mallard, partridge, flashabou, hackle etc. Pretty much geared towards trout sized flies, and stuff for beach fishing for SRC/salmon. Also a variety of hooks. Lots of trout hooks-dry, nymph streamer, sizes 4-18 and some saltwater hooks in 4s, 6s, and 8s.
I can try to take pictures of everything, but all I have is a camera phone so it may be hard. Plus I don't know how to upload photos from a camera phone to a computer, but I will try to figure it out. Seems like pictures would be the easiest way to show how much stuff is here. But if need be I can always send pictures directly from my phone to yours too.
It's become apparent that I will just never get into tying as many of you seem to, and after reading Evan's post last week and giving it some thought, I'm ok with that. Even more so if I can unload this stuff and have the money to help my family.
For now I'd like to focus on selling it as a lot, but if it comes down to it I may consider breaking it up. I'm thinking 350 for the lot is more than fair. I can't really guess to the worth of this mass of stuff, but I'd say its at least 6 or 700 minimum. I'm located in Kitsap county if someone wanted to take a look at everything.
