March Matness!

For those of us who are life-long Wrestling fans, tomorrow begins the apex of the season. Saturday evening will host the finals. The NCAA Wrestling Championships begin in St Louis, MO. Penn State, Ohio State, OK State, and Iowa are among the favorites. I am Penn State proud having Wrestled through HS in PA. The Nittany Lions have won 5 NCAA titles out of the last 6 years and have a real shot at another trip to the top. They finished an undefeated Dual Meet Season but fell short at the Big 10 Finals, losing out to a very tough Ohio State.

Most of the country is glued to the pumpkin (Basket Ball) scene, but, there is another great and time-honored sport about to show its very best athletes. Wrestling is the world's oldest and greatest sport. Well, at least for some of us.

Go Penn State!

Suriano from Penn State out with an earlier injury. That makes the race to the top even tighter!! Can feel the BP rising!!!
Penn State grad here, and I'm looking forward to watching this on TV as well. Where were you from in PA, @Golden Trout?

@Swimmy, I seem to recall that you said you were a pretty fair wrestler in GA back in the day. Where about did you live/wrestle there?

Nazareth PA under the late, great Ray Nunamaker who was inducted into the PA Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame three times.
Huge upset to Ohio State where Miles Martin, last year's NCAA Champ, lost. This will hopefully open the door for Penn State's Bo Nicol who lost to Martin last year in the finals. This will really help the Lion cause. Seven out of eight Lions have pushed through to the Quarters. Go Penn State!!!!

Incredible finals so far.

These kids just get better and better.
Five champions and at least two of them that everyone counted out except Penn State. Two Frosh who beat two-time NCAA Champions!!!! Amazing! I have never been more Penn State Proud and even more proud of the oldest and Greatest sport of Wrestling!!!

And not just 5 champions, but it was 5 straight matches that were won by Penn State's wrestlers - every one of the Penn State wrestlers that were in the finals came away as the National Champion.

Do you think Penn State fans will ever see another one like that?
None of these five are Seniors! In addition, 285 Nevels (placed 5th) is not a Senior! The future looks good for another shot at the title! "Havin fun, scoring points" by some of the very best recruits in the country. Some, of not most of these guys, will now pursue Freeystyle Wrestling dreams at the Olympic and World level. Wrestling is a culture and a life style that only gets better!
