I've tied my Z-Wings with white poly yarn, but a darker color like brown could work just as well.
A rainbow trout flavored clouser. There's a lake nearby with big brownies that this should work at.

also - that looks like a saltwater hook. Have you ever tried mousing for those browns?? Just curious as I am getting my tie on some mouse patterns for same reason

It's a gami I had left over from trying saltwater clousers. As far as mousing goes, I am going to try that this summer too once the rivers go down a bit. I skated a tiny dry one night last year and had some impressive swipes, but couldn't connect.

The monthly salons are usually continued by the salon starter picking thier favorite fly of the salon. Not a competition, just the way monthly salons continue every month. If you want to Norm, you could pick a favorite and it would elect that person to start the next monthly thread and style of fly
