Taught a winemaker friend of mine how to fly fish yesterday afternoon! Had a blast, as I haven't fished much since I started working at Total Wine.

I fished a little, but it really was able getting Bill Grassie ready for his trip to Rock Creek next week. This was his first time fly fishing and he hadn't fished since he was a kid. Finished with some of his wine, and he opened and gave me some wine from his personal collection!

Drinking it with friends tonight after a beautiful dinner or salmon, rice and garden veggies!

He's a great guy! I helped him run a primary campaign, he was running for Congress last year. Great wine too!

One thing I had forgotten, or showed how long it was since I was up on the middle fork was the fact it was all paved! Got up to the campground real quick!

That bottle of Northstar looks familiar, I designed a bunch of labels around that logo when I worked for Ste. Michelle, I still have the Northstar Grand Opening bottle they gave me as a thank you...

But more importantly did you find any fish?

I was in that Same exact spot last month! Stayed at middle fork campground and Fished the Taylor. Tons of tiny little coastal Cutthroats. I've only ever fished down to the footbridge on the Snoqualmie.

I didn't catch any, but it was about the other Bill.. He hooked one and had we stayed a little longer I think we would have hit the magic hour! There were small white flies, a small hatch and a few bigger white flies. Not sure what they were, I guessed mayflies, but my entomology sucks. We were both fishing a Royal Coachman, I usually find attractors are good enough on the MF!
