Same for me...but I will say you need a proper nymph... maybe bead head prince.

Elk hair caddis = dry
prince nymph = wet

I rather like ants and beetles for terrestrials. They are especially nice on high lakes. Also damsel nymphs are good and versatile.

hmmm..... come to think of it, I fish these patterns a lot. Add a Nyerges Nymph, Six Pac, Elk Hair Caddis, & Hares Ear Soft Hackle and you have the majority of the flies I fish.
