My first "boat"

Well its not a full on boat, just an 8 ft pontoon. Here it is.
Boat Water Watercraft Vehicle Boats and boating--Equipment and supplies
plans include drifting, so I will pick up a fisherman pfd. Also have the two scottys which have been moved to just infront of the oar locks.

Other plans include an anchor mount, oar holders on the back, net mount, rod tube holder (likely a strap to hold extra rods), and a padded seat.

So far I am learning that a pontoon is very much a boat purchase. The pontoon itself is the base model, with the ability to outfit to one's desires and budget.

I have never seen Scotty's mounted tipped over like that. What a great idea! I might recommend putting one of them in the back. If you're right-handed put it on the left-hand side. That way it's out of the way when you're casting or fighting fish that may run around the front of your boat.
Either way have fun. I am sure it will serve you well!

You can do a hell of a lot with an 8' pontoon. Double up on the gear bags might be something else to consider. Here's my old 8' Bronco in the midst of a five day float.

5 day float on a Bronco is impressive!

I had food for two more days. I could have probably have packed enough for ten.
The only thing that I wish I could have found room for was my zero gravity chair. Next time I think I'll strap it to an inner tube and tow it behind me! :)
I have the same boat with most of the improvements you mentioned.
Take good care of it and it will serve you well for a long time.
One additional thing you might consider is to buy a couple of rubber caps for the foot pegs.
They originally come with plugs but always seem to get knocked out by foot or fin movement.
