Maybe I'm looking for an unhealthy hobby, maybe I'm trying to improve my cultured refinement, maybe I've got a relative coming in from far away. What kind of cigars are you enjoying these days on the river and where does someone who is not an expert find a decent selection?

It would be nice if they were aromatic to the passer by too, if I'm not smoking it I may as well enjoy it from afar.

(Bad vodoo karma to those that make Tweed jokes...just so you know.)

Tabac specials dulce. I have never been a fan of infused cigars (coffee for these) but tabacs are sooooo good. I would definitely recommend them to some one who is looking to dabble in cigar enjoyment. They are smooth, don't give me cotton mouth, and have awesome flavor.

Pan, don't smoke now, never did, not that cool I guess. Have some family members who have smoked various things. One in particular likes himself a fine single malt and stogie. I'm trying to get him here to fish, he fishes just about everywhere else. When he comes to hang out we'll take a nice trip, share a flask, he can fire up a nice dominican or something (recommened by those in the know) and we'll have a grand old time. You messing with me again?

Take a look at Cigars International ( www.cigarsinternational.com ), including a variety of sampler bundles. Great daily and weekly specials, just sign up for their mailing list and you will get emails with the current specials. If you end up really getting into cigars, they have good prices on humidors and other accessories. Lately I have been into Punch Gran Puros, specifically the Santa Rita and Libertad Tubo size, they are nice smooth, mild cigars that don't take longer than 20-25 minutes to smoke. I personally don't like bigger cigars that take an hour to smoke, my attention span isn't that long.

Just make sure you buy from a good humidor not some glass air conditioned case that dries out the cigars. Temp.and humidity are very important to a good smoke. Tacoma area try the Tinderbox or The Cigar Ladies in Lacey. Both can suggest some good cigars to meet your tastes or mild and smooth if your not a" SMOKER" Start with a variety to find your tastes (which will change). Start out with a smaller cigar like a robusto. Some cigars can last well over an hour which is a lot of smoking. You can find excellent cigars in the $5 to $8 range, like the Oliva serie V. This is one of my favorites especially the box pressed Maduro. There is a lot of info on-line and some really good deals to be had.

Smoking is not a healthy pastime and you can take a lot of flak but most people don't know drinking milk is linked to lung cancer and vaccinations can kill too! Best advice leave them all alone..........NAAAHH

Best shop around is FK kearston's in the Ballard Fisherman's Terminal or Westlake above the whole foods in downtown seattle. Some good cigars to try out are; Rocky Patel Decade Series $10, Padron Anniversary $11 for a tiny one - but damn good. Casa Magna is a good cigar at $7. If you're buying a cigar for a friend and it's a special occasion, then go for the padron anniversary series and get the big ones - 20-30 bucks. They're pretty hard to beat.

I gotta second Cigars International; great deal on 5 Vegas Golds, mild, smooth, and a perfect cigar for Rocky, perched on a rock trying to understand why you yanked that scud out of the two-footer's mouth. Ghurka #3 isn't bad either, but they're pricey. Either that, or a load of Balkan #3 in my vest pocket pipe. Life is good!!

I have to recommend Mike's Cigars in Bar Harbour FL as a source. They've been around for just over 50 years, and are the outlet for seconds from Macanudo and Punch. They call them Old Fashioned s, and they are the best value in North America at
$25-$40 a bundle depending on promotions. Mikes also has great sampler offers to discover what you like in the deluxe range. I was introduced to the company about 15 years ago when working the Miami Boat Show, and have shopped there exclusively ever since.

CAUTION, smoking may be bad for your health, and cigar embers have been known to destroy expensive fly lines when used improperly.
