Hi all,

I know this is not fly related, but thought you all would have some good info.

I'm looking for info on squid fishing around the Olympia area, I have a kayak and am thinking of going out for a try.

I know others in the Seattle fish from the docs making me think they like structure, but i just dont know..

Any info would be appreciated!

thanks,
ben

The key ingredient for successful squid fishing is light shining into the water. They tend to gather around lighted docks this time of year to spawn. That's why most people fish for them off the docks. Glow in the dark jigs have worked the best for me. You can purchase them or make your own. They're fairly easy to make with glow in the dark beads(pretty much anything that glows in the dark), sewing pins, epoxy, lead weights, and wire. The best thing to do is go down to the docks and watch other people fish for them. Most are happy to share they're knowledge.
