I'm headed to the NFL Wed afternoon and all day Thursday. Still in pursuit of my 1st steelhead. If anyone is going to be in the area let me know, or feel free to pm me with any tips for the area. It will be my 1st time on the river.

Would I be better off on the East fork?

IMO you won't be better off on the EF. There is very little water in the EF, WDFW no longer stocks hatchery summer steelhead in the EF, and the small wild run has migrated upstream of the various waterfalls into protected, no fishing, areas, long before now.

The NFL used to be a mecca for summer steelhead, but hasn't been such a mucher in the last decade. Your odds of hooking your first steelhead are probably much higher by just fishing the long run at Blue Creek for a day and a half.

I fished Blue Creek and swore that I would never go back! All of the bait fishers and guides ruined the experience for me. I was hoping to find some fly fishing only waters.

I am not set on going to the NFL, but it seems like a great area to explore. The SRC and bows seem to be there as well, so hopefully I'll catch something while I'm there.
