someone here recommended finding this place in Missoula, so we did in spite of the intense smoke. had a brisket salad. lots of lettuce, a couple of tomatoes and 3 slices of brisket which was overdone and lacking flavor. i would not recommend this place. but the brew pub right next door looked like a great place for nachos :)

next time you are in Port Angeles, check out the Coyote Cafe for some real 'Q', heads and shoulders above the 'pig'.

Never been there myself, but it occurs to me that maybe your mistake was ordering a salad at a BBQ joint.
Yup. The guy eating the salad is not the one I'm going to ask about the quality of the BBQ. That said, three ingredients sounds like a pretty sorry salad. If you own a restaurant, you better make sure everything on your menu is as good, and posts like this are precisely why.

Overdone brisket is always disappointing. That it was short on flavor, too probably means you went on a bad day. I spent about 10 years in foodservice (cook/chef), and I know, all too well, that those days can and do happen.

well folks, it was on the menu as a brisket salad. it is the brisket that was not all that good, well past medium and the flavor, well it was not there. even if it was presented on a salad base, where was the flavor?

and yes, the coyote cafe has at least B+ Q, the pig, well C- -> C, so i won't go back. now the brew pub right next door, looked great.

I've never has a brisket salad so forgive the question, but have you ever had one you would consider especially good? BBQ brisket is cooked to over 200F ('medium' is 140) and if not sliced or pulled and served immediately (hot) is almost certain to be dry, particularly if it's from the flat, which it usually is. Freshly sliced and hot isn't what I would expect on a salad. Dry and tasteless is.

I'll let y'all know how this norious ham turns out. He was one of 9 caught this morning. Going in a crockpot tomorrow morning cuz I don't have time for the smoker. Dang job. Crockpot pulled pork is cheating, but tasty.

Getting rid of an invasive critter + eating like a king = my kind of meal.

yep, try the Coyote Cafe in PA and taste the difference. as pointed out by another poster, perhaps they were having a bad day, who knows but it was dry and tasteless for certain.

Sure you didn't (like the typical WFF'er) immediately get shit-faced and try to eat your green napkin?
