Looks like he is using a 15 foot rod.
Wow these guys were casting 54 meters. That 177 feet
Yeah, but that holding water looks like shit. Bet they didn't even catch any fish....

casting knee deep .vs. waist deep is first thing that came to mind...casting pool in SF is lil deeper pool...but great casting!

Casting is definitely a means to an end for me. I'm one of those who lays awake at night trying to come up with ways to connect with more steelhead. I don't lay awake at night wondering how I can cast farther toward guys on pontoon boats. Almost makes it more like golf and less like spending time in the outdoors. Interesting and impressive though, and thanks for sharing.

Yeah reminds me of golf driving for distance. Not much interest for me since with the Spey rod I am almost always using a weighted sink tip (t-14). Also the rivers I fish are not very wide. I am more concerned with getting deeper faster with a drag free deep swing. Nice casting though.

You should probably spend some time figuring out how more distance can help. It's a part of the tool box and can be just as important as other aspects of the cast and swing. Remember, if you can cast far, you can also cast shorter. If you can only cast short, well......

When you can cast that well, there's no need to wade any deeper.
