Kudos and "MEGA-DITTO'S" to Chuck, Jerry, Joan and all the other H&S "permenant party" folks for all the planning, organizing, and hard work that went into making this weekend's Yakima River event truly outstanding!!

I hope the event was as meaningful and fun for the WTB Vets attending as it was for a vet from a previous generation. I wish each of you and your fellow Warriors from around the country the very best and Godspeed in your recovery and in all of your future endeavours! I hope each of you will see this weekend as another confirmation that America and Americans care deeply for each of you--Thank you for your service and sacrifice!!

Semper Fi!

Dave

P.S.--It was great to see our "local legend" Les Johnson out and about and looking good after a couple of tough years!!

Ditto to what Dave said! I am always humbled in the presence of these young guys, and the vets from previous generations. I was also able to put some faces to names on the forum and it was great to finally meet them. Of course, always great to meet up with my usual fishing buds! Thanks for making it another great weekend!

Lonnie
It was a great weekend. I was worried at first, but thankfully every snag along the way came out straight and we were good to go.

I'd like to thank all the volunteers that donated thier time to help out on our event. There are so many to thank, I don't know where to begin. So I'm going to just say a big THANKS to all of you who donated thier time via boats, in camp, etc.

Have a couple quick BIG THANKS. First to Bitterroot. My right hand man on the dutches and in the kitchen. Without him, it wouldn't have flowed so well. Great team we are. Still can't believe all the dutch ovens we had running. LOL.

A SUPER BIG THANKS to Gary Thompson from Red's. We had a boat drop out on us literally at zero hour (as in, we were ready to put vets in the boat and guy never showed) and he ran through the gambit of guides he knew to get us a boat. After tons of calls, he got us a guide without the team losing much time on the water.

But it just wouldn't have been as great as it was without all your help, Ed, Dave, Jim, Bob, Jason, Lonnie, Todd, and anyone else from the board I missed.

Now to do a rundown to see what we need to tweak for next year (no need to post on here, we'll get around to emailing about that one). :)

Here you go, a couple pics I took.

The winning team. Some of you know the guys in the middle and right. It's my buddy Jessie on the left. He even called that they'd win Friday night!

Our welcome to the 2 fly event

BTW, if any of you took pics, please email them to me at [email protected] or if you took alot (like Jason) can you load to a disc and send/give to me? Thanks. :)
Ditto, it was a great weekend.

This was my first time supporting a PHWWF event and won't be the last. A first class operation to help and support our veterans as they recover. Always great to meet others cut from the same cloth.

Next time I won't leave my 5wt and tent laying in the garage.
Thanks for all the work, Jerry and everyone else that made this weekend happen! It was a pleasure to hang out and fish with the guys. I was stoked to find out that a bunch of the crew lives <30 min from my house. It won't be the last time I fish with those guys. This was an awesome weekend of catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, fishing, and shit talk. LOTS of shit talk. I can't wait for the next event.
What a great time, great cause, and great people. We had a blast, made friends, and are all looking forward to the next time. I've added my photos tothe gallery, today Tuesday, as an album.
It was humbling to be in the presence of such great organizers, dedicated service members, their families, friends and such a great group of volunteers. There were guides of all ages, lots of great looking boats and rigs, food that should be outlawed, smiles by the dozens everwhere you looked and the stories that were flying around the campfire and on the boats, at least there were some flying on my boat. Again I spent time on and around the water with an amazing group of friends, old and new, and realized just how blessed I am to be able to keep such company. Thanks to Jessie and Jason (and Connor) for making the day on the water one amazing day that will live strong in my memories. Here is to all who came from near and far, and here is to us getting together again soon and often to do it again!

What a great time! This is a wonderful program, made even more wonderful by our stellar volunteers! Especially wonderful for me was being able to have two other Vietnam Vets in my own boat. Once again, Jerry proves that you don't need a fancy building to be a five star chef! Congratulations to all the organizers, volunteers, (a special thanks to Gary Thompson!), and to Chuck Tye for all the hard work. and Mumbles, given that hatbill headlamp of yours, we need to have you change your avatar name to "The Illuminator"....You're in charge of next year's disco on Saturday night:clown:
Just adding my "thanks for all the effort" to Chuck, Jerry, Joan and the rest of the PHW crew for all their work.
I can't say anything more or better than those above but I do want to give a thumbs up!

Chuck and Joan planned and executed an excellent event, Jerry cooked some outstanding grub and the other volunteers made sure the weekend went off without a hitch. It was great to fish with Matt, as some said, he is a "fishy dude"! Even after the trip down the river he grabbed his flyrod as soon as we pulled off and went to the river behind camp and fished some more.

Thanks a bunch!

Todd
I count 12 dutch ovens that Jerry and Lonnie were using for this particular meal. They had many more available. Awesome stuff.

Those dudes can COOK.
WHAT???
NO CALF-DEEP MUD?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
These two fishy dudes missed way more than the hooked and were just hilarious to fish with all day long. In this frame they just completed a short wading section, then stopped at the local make out rock for a bit of getting to know each other better.

We were just lucky to be alive after your reckless boat handling. I'm calling the Coast Guard on you.

If no rods got broken it wasn't reckless ;) Glad you all had a good time, sorry I missed out on the fun. Even though I wasn't there I still want to pass a big thanks to those that helped out.
I want to thank you guys for a great weekend. A real plesure to spend a few days with a group of folks that care about people. Jerry's food was fantastic !! We do owe Gary and Reds fly shop a huge thank you for their support.
Sign me up for next year
