I went over to the dry side for a few days last week. Met up with Ivan (Ive of Ione) and a buddy of his at Lost Lake. The action was pretty good and we all caught some nice brookies. Many were bigger than the ones we got in the Spring and real spunky. After a couple days there I headed down to Lost Lake as I wanted to hunt grouse and scout for turkeys in the Sherman area. The cutthroat were pretty active but not huge. Most fish were in the 12"-14" range but got one that went 16". On my way back home I spent the night at Blue Lake in the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area. I've done well there in the past and I fished Friday afternoon/evening and again on Saturday morning before heading home. Fish were active but not as big as in the past. The vegetation has really gotten thick there and has really reduced the fishable area. In all three lakes I mostly fished a sinking line or a sink-tip with my Camo Carey. I did use a few nymph patterns (Nyerges nymph and my red head nymph) around weed beds with good success as well. All in all a nice trip. Between the three lakes I caught four different types of trout, rainbow, brown, lahotan cutthroat, and brook.

Islander-

I was there friday evening/saturday morning as well. Blue outcast pontoon. We did well into the night with a slow troll right off the bottom with olive followed by black for some of the nicer fish. Saturday was good as well until about 1 when the wind picked up. That was my first trip to blue, a truely beautiful place. I will have to put lost on my list as well.

Scott, the smoke is long gone and the forest is looking great. Best of all there was not another soul in the campground and we were the only 3 on the lake! The fly you gave me last year with the herl body and the black tail was just dynamite again. On Wed we went down to Blue to fish for Lahontans and again that was the fly of the day. We caught at least a dozen up to 24'' in the time we were there. Not terribly fast fishing but it sure beat the hell out of getting skunked.

And like Camelot, it never rained 'till after sundown nor was there significant wind. Fine, quiet camping completely unlike the zoo we experienced last fall. I still haven't seen your ass over here on the dry side-when are you going to get up this way?

They were pretty yummie, but only because you did the BBQ'n. Those home made cinnamon rolls weren't to shaby either. For some reason I always gain weight when Ivan's around camp.

Scott, flushed out a few grouse but didn't get any shots. Saw some turkeys but they were not in the Fall hunting areas, go figure.

Good report! I like all those lakes, but have never tried Blue. It's been on my list for a couple years, just haven't made it yet.
