I dredged up a Sage graphite 8498 CFL...I think, numbers are worn, in an Idaho reservoir years ago and am trying to figure out what it is.

It was custom made for RL Stewart by Shasta Fly & Rod with the #41248414

Any ideas anybody?

Could it be GFL rather than CFL? Very early rods carried a GFL designation on them I believe...

Probably is, both Gs graphite and GFL worn badly. What weight is it? 4 weight?

Depends how you read it, it could be a 8 weight, 4 foot 9 inch 8 piece.

It is a 9' two piece, quite limber and I guessed it to be four weight.

Great on lakes in kick boat, not so on a river for longer casts...like older glass rods

The last 8 could very well be a "B" for blank since it was a custom and not factory built rod.
Could you have any of the other numbers transposed? If not they're a head scratcher.
Is it a full 9' long?
