Omak Lake is proving to be an epic fishery this spring. I have made two trips there in past week and despite some inclement weather the fishing was at an all time high. Size wasn't as great as last year but the catch and strike rates were excellent. I have fish mostly from the beach tossing flash streamers on a type 6 sink tip to better improve my casting in those conditions and I have been reward by good numbers of chases and many ravenous takes. I did motor around in a boat exploring other shoreline opportunities and was greeted happily by some willing participants. This year nothing has broke into that "monsterous" size classification but there have been a couple that borderline on "huge". Anyway, the premis of this post isn't to talk numbers, but convey what an awesome fishery this is within our state. I hope some of you can make it out and enjoy it. It beats sitting on the couch with rivers blown out and waiting for the spring opener.
