Hit Omak Lake after work last nite(I'm remodeling a house at the back of the lake). Caught one on my first cast that was right around two feet long and took me into my backing twice, the first time nearly spooling me. Got a couple of others to rise, but missed them. After about an hour on the lake I spotted a fish cruising toward me rising about every 5-10 seconds. I ran down the beach, got ahead of him and casted. He gulped my fly, but I missed the hook-set, which spun the fish around. He kept rising, so I kept after him. Got him to take my fly twice more, missed both time. After he moved off I checked my fly. The hook shank was completely straight! Damn, he was well over two feet long. Landed a couple small, 16-17 inchers before the hatch was blown away by a storm.
All on #14 H&L Variant. If you are in the area, it's well worth the visit.
