As if they don't already get to have their way with the fish.

"The commission also voted to end an unpopular barbless hook angling rule on the lower Willamette River, but left in place an angling closure of an area of Buoy 10 off the mouth of Youngs Bay after gill-netters testified it was an important buffer to keep anglers from catching too many salmon heading into the heavily netted bay."

So part of the reason for this is because we (us rod and reel anglers) are keeping fish from swimming into their gill nets. What a fucking joke.

Really? A country divided? I suppose you think its not been that way for the past 8 years? These are two dark blue states. They should both be leading the nation in all things conservation. This decision is solely within their jurisdiction. Attempting to pin this pissing match on Trump, is ludicrous... but not surprising.

I don't think OR broke an agreement with WA as much as it broke an agreement with its own citizens. In 2013 both states adopted legislation and a plan to phase out mainstem Columbia River non-treaty gillnetting. However, both states legislation contains adaptive management language, a loophole if you will, that allows them to backpeddle on the commitment. So in technical legaleze neither state has broken any agreement, but both have certainly violated the spirit of legislation adopted 4 years ago.

not a Donny fan for sure
Well... I'm pretty sure this legislation took more than a few hours to create. The article came out the same day he was inaugurated. Pretty sure he had nothing to do with this.

Well, it's certainly great that both parties involved have this subtle technicality to hide behind.

I always thought that when anything went bad, the guy in office gets the blame? That was how it worked the last 8 years, right?

Man, I need the rules sent to me : )

Well in that case, you have to blame Obama. When this legislation was created, Obama was still president.

Nope. news today is under the new administration.

If we cannot blame someone for something, what is this world coming to?

Geez, sounds like I am already ready for the debates in 3 1/2 years. They will be doozies!

No more politics for me until that time, back to this issue. State versus state right now.
