Pensacola/nw Florida?

Heading down there in a few months and would like to do some fishing of course. Has anyone fished that area?

I'm curious about what species to expect and a good all around outfit to be using.

Lived there 5 years. Before I was a fly angler. Lots if inshore opportinities. I caught a myriad of species using spinning gear and live bait. Reddish, king makerel, Spanish mackerel, cobra, sheepshead, pompano...Holy smokes it is a great area.

Thanks for the link, Bob. I hadn't come up with that on my searches yet. Pompano would be a lot of fun, and good eating. Also looks like a good chance for some drum while I am there. Thanks guys.
I fished there about 6 months ago. Hooked a redfish and hooked/landed several sea trout. Clousers are the ticket and you'll need a 60-80 ft cast. Capt Baz is the only fly fishing guide in town. His email is [email protected]. Attached is a sea trout pic. Have fun!

What prompted you to move from that fishing mecca?
