I have been doing a lot of pike fishing over the last two years in both rivers and in lakes, and I have come to the conclusion that it all is outrageous. :thumb: I was just wondering what everybody else thinks and what they prefer to do. Rivers or Lakes?

I have only fished rivers so far, But I would guess that my local river is about as good as it gets because the pike are never out of reach! I can cast across it and its no more that 8-10' deep in most areas. Plus they get into the 30lb range...(I havent managed anything close to that)

Pike represent one of the GREATEST sportfish of all time. The bad rap that they get is due to their appetite and "no fear" mentality. With all due respect, any fish of that size needs to eat, eat often (in warmer water temps.) and eat big! Do I love Pike fishing........................................HELL YES!

Although we have them in some of our lakes around here (muskies too) i've never had a shot at them.
Someday I will.

So far the vast majority of my pike are from lakes. Theren't too many pike in rivers close to Calgary, but lots of lakes. Always a hoot, and my biggest is only about 12 lbs so far.

Great pics. but I did notice flyfshnfool didn't show the fly used to catch this big lug. I'm heading up to Mayfield over the 4th to trick a muskie out of the lake, probably won't catch any and if I do it will likely scare the crap out of me, nowhere to run in a pontoon. Anyone with some advice I would love to hear from you.
