I would like to organize a beach cleanup this winter. Currently I are looking at January/February time frame. I don't have any specific dates in mind, but soon I would like to have two or three dates to offer up then go from there.

The idea is to have a good time cleaning up a beach and potluck lunch. If people are interested in doing fly swap that would be fun also. Of course, come ready to fish.

I am open to suggestions on beaches/logistics.

If you are interested in attending let me know so I can get you on the list. In the reply also indicate if you want to do a fly swap so I can get numbers for that as well.

Also this will be a family friendly event.

Good idea.
Put me down as a tentative for attendance and swap.

Just a couple suggestions.

Please do this at a well know beach that gets a decent amount of non angler traffic as well.
That type of beach tends to attract more litter plus will likely have some amenities should a decent number of people decide to attend.

Fishing can also be decent to good at those types of beaches with plenty of room for people to spread out.
It also doesn't blow up any of the lesser known beaches.

That's a great suggestion. One of the state or municple parks should fit the bill.

Count me as a maybe as well. I am traveling a couple weeks during that timeframe but will make it if I can.

Potluck - I’ll bring the spiked punch. We’ll get those beaches out of Stonefish, Mtskibum, etc. While your at it, there are a few more folks you’ll want to make sure get on the list, even if you have to bribe them :).

And just to get this straight; you want me to bring a fly rod to a beach and do .......cleanup? I’ll do my best to make it but I’m not sure how much cleaning I’ll get done. If there are just sculpin to be caught, I might end up doing more casting then cleaning...

I don't think you want that many possible people on any searun beach unless you do it at Purdy.
That's about normal though for there.

There is a park by some big bridges with lots of beach that folks can spread out on and isn't top secret.
Lots of beach to pick up litter on as well. That would be my vote if I'm able to attend that weekend.
