Curious about the state of the Colorado river with regard to spring run off this year, between say, Grand Junction and Rifle or Glenwood Springs.

Been there?
Are there trout?
Is there river access?
Advice?
Fly shops?

Feel free to use the conversation feature.
Still uncertain by travels may take me there next week.

Thanks
Jay

As previously mentioned, the river will most likely be high and muddy, however it should be fishable using nymphs along the edges. Id also recommend the Roaring Fork (south of Glenwood) over the Colorado.

Concerning tail waters, If you're willing to drive an hour from Glenwood Springs, check out the Yampa River, below Stagecoach Reservoir followed by the the Frying Pan.

My sister lives in Carbondale. We usually fish the Crystal, Frying Pan and the Roaring Fork. You'll find plenty of fly shops in Carbondale and Basalt which aren't to far from Glenwood Springs. They're all very helpful and update their websites with current conditions. Ruedi Resevoir area is also really popular. This whole section has easy access right off the road. Make sure to stop by the Woody Creek Tavern for great food why your in the area.
