Not lately for me..but did run across this old photo print of one...
-a beautiful eastern WA native rainbow trout hen..her fins were stunning and perfect!
Here is the crazy part. There was a small school of suckers in a ball..they had red stripes-never figured the species. Trout fishing was slow all day, so I put on a San Juan worm to try and catch one of the suckers for a closer look. I tossed the fly into the school of suckers and in no time had a fish on. Suddenly, the crowd of suckers dispersed and this beautiful/large hen rainbow emerged like a mirage ..twisting and shaking her head. I landed her quickly as I could and was mesmerized by her good looks.
Been maybe 20-25 years back, but she will never be forgotten. She was a beauty !
All my pictures are in my head. My best fish was a 27 lb King I caught off the west side of Camano Island. It was white fleshed. It was a wandering King from the Fraser River. It sure did taste good. My one and only time eating Salmon that I caught. I cooked it up with a Recipe from Fishing and Hunting News. But it wasn't fly caught.
From the Snoqualmie forks recently. Normally I don't bother with fish pics on skinny water outings but the two large spots on the gill plate caught my eye.
If it doesn't have to be lately or big, Cutthroats get my prize...Here's one of the prettiest I've ever caught (for some reason like an idiot, didn't see fit to get the whole fish in the pic)...Got him and about 50 of his friends from a high mountain lake...
In the Big category...This was one of about 40 caught on a bit larger lake spring '15...
Actually, here's one for the Lately category...Rainbow in the sun...
