Well what sizes? I have an 8wt 13'3" spey that i like. But, then again i have only used a few different spey rods. Also got he 6wt switch that i loveee. Your right though, there are few reviews and the only ones i have found are on the spey.

I really like the ones that i have fished. in a 6wt it is a great puget sound beach rod. I didnt like it as well with the Rio Outbound but felt it hit its grove with a 250gr Streamer Express.

+1 here. I have that same rod & same SA 250 Streamer Express line, it shoots like a rifle.

CPX 9664S the 9' 6" saltwater specific. It is a big 6 weight rod, but that's what I was looking for.

Its noticeably lighter to me than my old 7 weight. Not even close to my Redington RS-4 8 weight, that thing is a gun w/ its 8 weight Aiirflo 40+ line

I have been fishing the CPX 9'6" 6 wt. on the beaches as well. The rod is extremely stiff, and is challenging for most intermediate casters to load (including myself). I've fished the Rio Outbound, Rio Grand, and AirFlow 40+ on the rod. I am not an Air Flow fan, but it is the only line that adequately loads this rod at the designated weight given my casting skills. The CPX is becoming my foul weather and distance choice when using the Airflow line.

I occasionally fish with someone who would be considered an advanced caster. Though he prefers his Z-Axis in the same size, it is amazing the distance he can get out of the CPX with little or no effort. Again, the tried the same three lines mentioned above and also felt that the rod was better suited to the characteristics of the 40+.

So if a 6wt casts like a 7wt, feels like a 7wt and takes an 8wt line to load it, what makes it a 6wt?
The label on the rod, sock and tube. I have one rod that is so stiff that I'm sure it really should be rated two weights heavier. I got it for Chum brawling. It does that job very good, but I don't think it would be what I would like for other fishing methods.

Mumbles is pretty much right on. All that makes it a 6 weight is what it says on the rod. These days though with the faster action of most rod series fly lines are often manufactured heavier than AFTMA standards to load with more feel. So you can usually line your rods as they are rated. Most of the CPX's however, could benefit from up lining because they are so stiff. Of course it's also up to what the individual caster feels comfortable throwing so to each his own.

this is good. I'm looking to add a switch rod to my arsenal and havent decided about a 6 or 7wt... but after reading this, I think I may go for the CPX switch in the 6wt, and be able to keep my 7wt reel and arbors (lines to be replaced soon anyway)... I generally fish a Loomis GLX 7wt with heavy streamer flies and looking for something new.

I've got the CPX in a 6 wt. with an Outbound Short. Casts great and I have no complaints. I see no reason to load it with a heavier line at all. It is my coho rod.

I use my 9664s w/ a Rio Grand (floating line) in 7 weight, it casts that line just fine

ok. I'm about to purchase my 6wt CPX switch. I'm also looking at the Rio lines, specifically the 7wt Rio Grand for bead fishing and the 7wt Outbound Short with the sink tip for dredging weighted leech and conhead patterns. Someone stop me if I'm way off the mark here.... I already have a Pflueger president 7wt reel with spare arbor but not sure how it will balance out until I get the rod....
