Because its a piece of shit.
There may be some truth to that, a piece of shit I doubt, but perhaps just anther rod line-up filler. Vice has been around enough time to have garnished any non-sponsored acclaim, it has not that I'm aware of.....but not looking hard either. Both the CPS and CT were quickly recognized as contenders and not pretenders. Redington has kicked out some nice rods besides the CPS and CT, I believe their nano quartz rod is still highly desired. Butterstick has a few believers.....

My prediction is the Vice will be gone in 2 years or maybe sooner. If you want to save 40 bucks check out the new Echo Ion rods.....I think both are in the same boat but one is the captain and the other the mate!

I use my old redington NTI 909 for a pike rod, for being 15 years old or so it still feels like a completely relevant and good rod to use. Maybe ignorance is bliss though, I haven't owned any recent big dollar rods.

I'm aware my comment doesn't answer anything at all. How far is the closest retailer that carries it? Few hundred dollar purchase may make it worth the drive to test it before buying it.
That was the rod I was thinking of.....then they had the ultra graphite "Baby Blue" with quartz. If I remember correctly it was a first for Redington @ 700.00 rod.

Well, I think there is some truth on both sides of the Redington fence. While Jim Murphy was at Redington he was pushing the envelope with materials. The Nti and NtiQ were built under is watch, a high graphite at 84 million built with nano-quartz. I can't remember what led to his departure. Redington had been budget friendly to consumers, however under Murphy the costs were rising as were their retail prices. Maybe some felt they should not be competing with the Winstons, Sages, Loomis, etc. Murphy left and hooked up with (and or started) Albright fly rod company. Some may remember them, they made a little splash in the fly fishing industry selling both budget and mid-price fly rods/gear. After years Albright folded. Douglas fly rods are now trying to enter the top tier market with the Sky series, The Sky has been receiving great reviews. In additionp they have other rod series that have been receiving honorable mentioning among the industry, and Jim Murphy was behind Douglas Outdoors. I guess he recently retired???? I'm a bit foggy on all the details but think I'm in the ballpark.
