I've gone through 3 pairs of Sonic Pros with the zipper. Good warranty as each time they replaced them but can't say I can recommend them as the seams have leaked each time. I'm beginning to think buying waders that are cheap and blow out after a year might be worth a try because spending several hundred on ones that leak is getting annoying .

A savvy and experienced fly fishing buddy told me, way back in the day when I was first starting out, that all waders leak, whether inexpensive or expensive waders, and it's just a matter of time until they do.

There's a reason most folks are buying the Redington in lieu of the Simms and Patagonia; price. Sometimes it's features, sometimes it's warranty, but most of the time it's price. If one is an occasional fly fisher, inexpensive waders make sense. If the person fishes a lot, it makes more sense to spend more to get more.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" is sometimes pretty darn true in outdoor gear, including fly fishing. Expect more, usually we have to pay more.

I know these comments will illicit a "duh" response from some,, but the thread discussions kind of side-step the issue.

Yet several users report getting 4 and even 5 years of service from them.
That's not the case for a vast majority of Redington wader's and boots. They are garbage and now they have a garbage warranty.

Just ready the last few comments here or look in the classifieds section to see the redingtons getting sold with broken parts.

I have had good service from my two pairs of Redington zip fronts. The sonic-welded pair is still leak-proof after three seasons. My first pair, on the other hand, have two sieves called neoprene feet attached to the bottom of the legs. I still use them when my son-in-law goes fishing with me...not nice to stick a valued rellie in a pair of waders half full of water! I have been repairing the feet for three years, often enough to have a leak testing tank permanently installed on my porch. I had five years of good service from the first pair. My only negative would be with the hyena in the customer service department at Redington. Our local dive shop tech suggested I contact Redington to ask if replacement feet were available...Simms used to sell them for their waders. I called and explained that I wasn't after any type of warranty coverage, just the information. I was asked for the purchase date for the waders, and then the customer service manager got on the line, laughing, telling me there was no coverage! She was in hysterics. I repeated my question about replacement feet and told her that I wasn't looking for any coverage from Redington, just the information. I had to repeat myself twice more to get my message across. She just hung up the phone on me. Reminded me of the Jerry Seinfeld Show..."No warranty for you!" I never did get my answer from this department...took a registered letter to the CEO for that. Customer Disservice Department Manager would be a better name for the hyena.

I have about 200 days (75 of those are float-tube and/or Commander so rough on the seat and crotch) on a cheap pair of Caddis waders. Had to patch a pin hole low on the leg where a blackberry vine punctured, but besides that they have been more than worth the $99 or so that I paid for them. I can't even remember where I bought them.
Affordable waders were always a necessity in my younger days and now 30 years later I still think the math proves them out so have never paid more than $160 for a pair of waders- breathable or neo. Warranties are awesome until they run out.

Those who say they got several years out of these can't be using them much. The ones I now have will be my last and I'll patch the hell out of them until I can only use them with a mask and snorkel. I ran into a guy this summer in the Cariboo with the same waders and I asked how he liked them.
"Love them! They've got a great warranty."
That segued into my next question..."How many pairs have you had?"
"These are my third."
I'm on my fourth and last pair.

Please define "much", as in "Those who say they got several years out of these can't be using them much." I fish all year round and nearly every day during the returning salmon runs here. This year 37 days straight in September and October.

I fished everyday from March 11th until April 5th and then outside of a few travel days, everyday from May 3rd until July 6th. Then 5 or 6 days a week from July 23rd until October 19th. My waders were leaking in the crotch by about mid June. The first pair I had starting leaking at the belt loop on the right side after only a few uses and then the zipper separated. The second pair lasted from February until the fall of 2016. Yes the warranty is wonderful because they've replaced them each time without any cost to me. But that leads me to wonder when you consider the cost of high end waders, rods, reels, etc., that come with NQA replacement guarantees, are we not being overcharged initially to make up the difference on the losses from these companies when they warrant someone elses's return? At least I would be satisfied if I fished hard for a year in a hundred dollar pair of boots and blew them out with no warranty as opposed to spending $600 on a pair with a guarantee that don't last a year.

I've owned 2 pairs of Sonic Pro HD Waders and they both leaked. Redington covered the first pair under their 1 year warranty because 1 month in they leaked. Luckily for Redington, my second pair made it over the 1 year warranty mark and will not be covered. They have a leak in the seams again and the zippers all broke or rusted off. Dealt with multiple people in the warranty department and ended up getting them shipped back to me. Unrepaired, unrepalced, still made in China garbage. Do yourself a favor and buy some Simms or Patagonia for the same price. I've talked to multiple people regarding Redington waders and they agreed with the shitty seams and components. Oh yeah, Redington boots are garbage too.
Patagonia is made in china

A very wise and seasoned fly fishing buddy of mine, years ago, opined that all waders eventually leak. He's right. I've had good luck with Redington Sonic waders and Redington rods (made in China). Additionally, I've also had great luck with high performing Redington Brakewater reels - made in China. And high performing Hardy rods - made in China. And high performing Orivs Mirage reels - made in China.
