Spey newbie looking to balance out a Z-axis 7134 with a Lamson Velocity Reel. V3 or V4 experiences would be helpful. I would appreciate any help!

Definitely the V4. They are very nice reels. You will want it for the capacity, but need it for the weight.

I have both and there's no way a V3 would have the capacity.

I think the V4 would work well. However, I found that it would reel in line as I worked down through a run. There isn't any tension on the take up and I found it to be a pain. Other than that it's a great reel.

great reel. I'm guessing you mean a 7136, awesome rod. What line you using?

You can get the Hard Alox V4 for a good price still...not the newer version, but perhaps better.
