Anyone shoot or own a Remington 887 Nitro Mag? I have been shopping around for a pump and this shotgun has caught my eye! I have seen some review on it and the ones I have seen either really love it or have had nothing but problems with it.

Tommy,

I had the privilege to test drive one up in Idaho a month ago. I put about 500 rnds through it. This shooter was very finicky on the brand of ammo we were shooting. I did experience excessive FTF issues. Mind you this was a brand new out of the box shooter. Completely field stripped (including the bolt) and cleaned/lubed. Remington is having a high volume of warranty repair work on this model. Allot of it has to do with firing pin issues and severe wear on the bolt. It's a great concept on a severe weather type shotgun but IMO it has to many safety issues that need to be addressed.

MY advise would be to purchase the tried and proven workhorse. The 870 wingmaster or even the lower end express. If you need a chamber to Sky Bust ( 3 1/2 chamber) go with the 870 magnum.

If you need to try out an 870, let me know cause I usually shoot trap and skeet every Sunday. I have an 870 as a backup and loaner. Heck I'll even let you shoot my SKB O/U and Berreta 391 to give you an opportunity to try out different platforms.

Noooooooooo, stay away from that piece of crap. it looks great but does not work. i gave up on mine after only 37 rounds. extractor keeps failing, gun fires when slide not locked foward. wish i checked the internet before buying. lots of info out there for all to see. i know of three others that have this gun, all have sent theirs in for repair. frankly, i think there is nothing to repair, its just a poor poor design. go with the 3.5 870, sure wish i did.
