what a beautiful week-end! warm and sunny. the fishing was moderate. saturday i worked several runs below carlton with no luck. then sunday by accident i happened to be above a riffle and let my fly swing around behind me and slam! a fiesty little 12 incher started across the stream with my fly. after releasing him i did the same thing and sure enough another hit. they were hitting as my nymph crested the surface and made a little wake. i have never skated a nymph but hey, do what works. this went on for a few minutes and i started working down the riffle. the fish were all stacked in the riffle that may have been 2 feet deep. i have never seen them sit in a riffle like that. i could do no wrong for about an hour and must have pulled in 15 or so fish and then like a light switch the fish turned off for the rest of the time i was there. fun fun.
