I've used a 8, 7 and 6. These days a 6 works fine for me when casting large poppers but sometimes, when the wind comes up, I could probably manage better with a 7.

If you don't plan to use the rod for much else than LMB and smallies, a 7 would probably suit you the best.

Depends where and what I'm fishing. I use a 6 wt the majority of the time, but will go up to a 7/8 for bigger flies.

I understand that going for the biggest bass has a lot of allure, in that case 7-9 is great. I have been wading small waters for smaller bass with my 5. The little guys are fun but an occassional big one is a blast.

People fish for small trout and have fun why not small bass?

Because we like big bass, and we cannot lie... you other brothers can't deny...
