I am biased but I did quite an extensive shopping/comparing for an 8wt reel this past month and ended up going with a Galvan Torque. The drag on this reel is unreal. Tighten the drag all the way and it literally locks the drag. Its also very smooooooth. Looks pretty too :)

Hello,

I had two Torques last year. T5 and T8. I don't use them anymore. When i'm using shootingline, the line sometimes get on the wrong side of the rim, locking the system!
This is because the spool gets loose after some use.

Sad, cos its a really nice brake and good looking reel.......

I have one of each (a T6 Torque but a 3600D Sage), and they are both good. Whichever feels best for you is the one to get. Also, consider the cost of spools as part of your analysis.

For servicing, though I hope this doesn't happen to either firm, I would think that it's more likely that Sage will be around in ten years to service your reel . . . just a thought.

The T 6 Galvan may be a bit heavy for your 6 wt. It is going to depend upon how you like your rod balanced out.

I use the Galvan R 4 on my 9' 6 wts and the balance point is at the top of the grip, which I preffer in that I hold the rod at the front of the grip. If I buried my hand next to the reel I would probably preffer the R 5.

A trip to your local shop and feeling how different size reels feel when mounted on your rod may be in order.
