Greetings All,

A question for you regarding access on the Sandy River in OR.

Years ago, sheesh hard to believe 10 years, I used fish a nice walk-in section near Dodge Park. There was a small parking area on the side of the river opposite the park, room enough for 5 or 6 vehicles. From there a foot trail lead down stream and provided access to many good holes; Pipeline Hole, Girl Scout Hole etc etc. It was a moderate hike, borderline easy.

I'm curious if this access still exists or has gone the way of private property or some such other closure?

I find myself in Portland for a couple weeks due to work and would love to visit one of the old haunts again.

Thanks in advance. Tight lines!

I know exactly the area you're talking about and unfortunately it is now entirely off limits to everyone, unless you access it by boat (not advised due to extreme hazards).

The reason it was closed is because of littering and general bad behavior down at the Pipeline Hole. Across the river from that spot is a Girl Scout camp, or something similar. The word is that some guy thought it would be funny to expose himself to the campers. You can thank him and the other disrespectful idiots for the (strictly enforced) no trespassing decision.

There's some good water on the Dodge Park side of the river, upstream from the park, if you still want to fish that general area. Should be some fish around. There's also over a mile of good water a bit downstream at Oxbow Park.

We used to call that the chicken run back in my day which was more like twenty years ago. I have met a good number of steelhead there it truly was one of my favorites.

Thats a shame about the Pipeline I have some darn good memories from there as well.

Give those fish my regards and hook one in there for me if you would gentlemen.
