He used pheasant tail for the wing; mine came out looking pre-chewed so I switched to rump feather.
hook - Mustad 3906 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tag - gold tinsel
tail - hen brown
body - peacock herl with green floss center
hackle - hen brown
wing - pheasant rump dyed brown
mash barb, start thread, wrap to bend; tie in tinsel, wrap to barb and back, tie off/trim

strip off a few hackle fibers, measure (hook length); tie in/trim

tie in some peacock herl, twist around thread, wrap to hook point, tie off/trim

tie in floss, cover middle 3rd, tie off/trim

tie in some more peacock and repeat; finish 1 eye width back from eye

tie in (folded) hackle by tip; wrap, tie off/trim

stroke hackle fibers down, cover with thread (drywall mud today)

trim center tip out of rump feather, measure (tip not quite to tail), tie in (no clue what the camera was focusing on)

trim, whip finish, SHHAN

Scott
