I know this anchor lock will do well in lakes,etc. but I was thinking also for the salt when going for SRC,etc.

Is this lock too weak to hold my 14' aluminum boat with roughly 500lbs of junk in it?

If not, what do you guys use and what would you reccommend? I see the Leelock anchor system, but they want 120.00bawling:

Holding you in place has more to do with the weight of the anchor and the angle of the line. The Scotty was designed to hold the line tighter as the current or weight pulls harder on it. That said I would not go motoring off with the anchor just hanging over the side of the boat as dead weight out of the water.

I have no problem using my scotty anchor lock with a 50 lb river anchor on 14' aluminum in the fraser river.

do you have the flush permenant model or the removable stand model? I would think the teeth on the scotty would wear down and would have no grip, or am I wrong? Thanks!
