Heading out to the Seep Lakes in two weeks (Early April) I would love to hear how it has been fishing.

From a lot of the posts that I have read these lakes are not worth fishing...

I would like to stay away from the crowds but understand that will be impossible. However, we will be there mid-week so it should be a little better.

Any thoughts on a first time Seep Laker?

My dad brought thirty fish to the net today on Canal Lake. The fish were not real big but fun none the less. He said they averaged 10 to 12 inches with 10 or so between 14 and 16 inches in length. The fishing should be pretty darn good there in early to mid April. The fish will be keyed in on damsel nymphs and any decent imitation should work even a small olive woolly bugger should do the the trick. There are always a few holdovers in the lake up to 20 inches as well. Its a cool lake and those rainbows sure do like there damsel nymphs and snails. My dad said he hit most of his fish on a olive wooly bugger and a few on chironomids. Also the Hampton lakes can be good for average sized trout as well if they are open by then. Just as a disclaimer these lakes are open under statewide rules so there could be some gear chuckers around.

If you end up heading that way good luck.
