Dear mouth-breathing asshats at the boat launch,
Thanks so much for pissing all the way down my buddy's truck. Never mind the fact that he's so nice that he makes the Dali Lama seem pushy. He shouldn't have parked his truck where it was. In a parking space. I also think it is pretty cool how you showed up with a sled at a motor free selective gear C&R lake just as darkness fell. I'm sure you guys weren't going to fire the motor and start slinging bait. My friend was totally out of line by politely letting you know that the lake was C&R only. He shouldn't have tried to save you a ticket. He was being rude.
Hugs and kisses,
Jason

just plain sickening. I have a good friend that used to always say "Don't get pissed Mike, just kill them with kindness". I'm not one to throw down at the drop of a hat, infact I do all I can to avoid confrontation, but with the pure loss of common respect these days I feel the "kill them with kindness" just adds fuel to the fire. What is it these days that make people feel they are entitled to anything at all in this world? I'm a firm believer that no one owes you anything so don't expect to get what isn't yours (minus the debts and borrowed lawnmower, but you know what I mean). I'm sorry you and your bud had to experience the greatness of modern day ignants.

when I had a sled, I often stopped at a boat launch on the way home from a saltwater trip and gave the boat and trailer a dunk in the lake, run the motor for a few minutes to wash the salt out of the motor. I do it with my current wussie prop drive boat too.

...are you sure they weren't doing that? I mean, did they get out the Barbie Poles and Power bait, or what?

Great post though, Jason!

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Mike-There was no chance to kill with kindness. The dude pissed on the truck BEFORE my friend talked to them. Madness.
Spey-They didn't fire the motor up and as soon as my friend gave them the C&R info, they bolted.

Jason,

Thus concludes another segment, albeit strange, for team gefeltifish (SP?). BTW, I am taking my spey set up to Bjorn, who is going to hook my up, Skagit style, then off to the Hoh. The following weekend, I'm taking a Spey casting lesson (4hrs) from Steve Buckner, http://www.northwestflyfisherman.com/ I am stoked!

I checked with DFW last night as soon as you phoned, Jason. The deal is, that technically, they could go to court and get away with launching a motor boat, you just can't fish from a platform with internal combustion motor on a selective fishing water. Public exposure on the other hand is illegal everywhere. As illustrated by last night's class act, there's a lot of folks out there with different standards, or none at all. Just about everyone has a camera on their phone these days, just document the offenses and the registration and send them in to enforcement, the number is posted on the signs around the lake. I salute you guys on your restraint, when I was your age, there would likely have resulted flashing lights and evening news from such a deliberate and crass insult.

The potential for abuse at Munn is high on the radar with the enforcement bunch, so rest assured there will be a presence there, either in uniform or in mufti.
