Might take a look at the st. croix mojo. Lightest they come in is a 7 though. Not a bad thing. Toss some bigger flies. Might even consider an 8. Won't break the bank at $150 new and you might be able to find one on the used market. I have been searching for the scott warmwater special in a 6wt. Apparently like winning the lottery. There is a guy selling some new in tube fenwick fenglass 7'9" 6wts on the fiberglass flyrodders forum. supposed to be a little faster for glass and they are 3pc. rods. good luck in your search

I tried the Cabellas 7/8 . at 70.00 cheap. I caught 5 bass to 1.5 lbs. Really fun, strong grabs , full flexing into the cork with a 7wt flyline. serious fun!!! But OMG the quality control was ATROCIOUS !!! . The Tip flew off the rod several times casting , no matter how hard I put it together, and I could feel the cork separated from the blank due to poor glueing. What a disapointment. I know this was the budget option, but surely u'd expect the cork handle to be glued on , and the ferrules to seat sufficiently. Wow. But i did determine that 7.5 feet of flyrod was a good length for the kayak, and would adequately fish the bass distances i needed , and was robust enough for the portages. I trade d a rod for an Epic 686 glass. It is supposed to be an epic rod.Pun intended.
