Yep. Or more commonly called just "sand shrimp". Best bait there is for perch in the salt.My guess is ghost shrimp.
I'm not an expert but I'm going to say Bob is correct.Crangonid shrimp, lots of them in shallow bays
Calianassus sp. and upogebia sp. are the sand shrimp used for baitNot what N.W. steelhead fishers call ghost or sand shrimp.
I don't know what those are but the picture @Stonefish posted is not the "sand shrimp" commonly used in NW. rivers as bait.Calianassus sp. and upogebia sp. are the sand shrimp used for bait
Yeah, not eating one of those.I don't know what those are but the picture @Stonefish posted is not the "sand shrimp" commonly used in NW. rivers as bait.
@Stonefish, were you fishing an ocean beach? Or somewhere in the Sound? Inquiring minds want to know.Found this shrimp in the shallows this morning.

Curiosity got the best of me and it took some searching to nail this down.SF,
I was fishing the sound.
I think Bob nailed it in the ID.
Definately not a sandshrimp, at least any sandshrimp I've ever seen, dug or used as bait.
