Found this shrimp in the shallows this morning.

I'm thinking perhaps a immature cooonstripe......yes or no?
Thanks for your input.

Looks like the same ones I see occasionally when surf fishing. They bury into the sand like mole crabs. No idea what the species is but have always assumed it was an inter-tidal critter.

BTW, Once many years ago they were pretty thick on the beach we were camping by. I was curious if they tasted good so grabbed a dozen or so. They were delicious fried quickly in some olive oil and a dash of garlic. Ate them whole too, being the seafood sicko I am. Too bad they aren't 10x bigger.

@Stonefish, were you fishing an ocean beach? Or somewhere in the Sound? Inquiring minds want to know. :)
SF,
I was fishing the sound.
I think Bob nailed it in the ID.

Definately not a sandshrimp, at least any sandshrimp I've ever seen, dug or used as bait.

Curiosity got the best of me and it took some searching to nail this down.

It appears Bob was correct (not that I doubted him) in it being a Crangonid shrimp: Crangon stylirostris or "Lissocrangdon stylirostris". A couple of common names come up, either "smooth bay shrimp" or "smooth sand shrimp".
