Sunday afternoon my son and I headed up to the middlefork to scout it out for the first time this year. The road was worse for wear as the washouts and potholes continued up past the Taylor. The lower stretch of river had had color to it and was running high. The further we drove the clarity was excellent but the flows were still high. We found a few places where the cutties were eager to hit a dry fly. After a few fish to hand my son took a break to whittle with his first pocket knife.
The fish are looking up and taking the standard bugs including big ants and some fluttering stone flys.
Good luck!
