Spent a couple hours swinging flies in the snow this morning. No action from the fish, but some good casting practice. Talked to a guy who fished the run ahead of me and pointed out where he'd gotten a grab, but when I got there either no one was home, or no one was interested. Still, fishing with all the huge flakes falling around me was a pretty great way to spend the morning.

Anyone else get out today?

I was on a MA13 beach from dawn to high tide about noon. Mixed rain and snow there

I'm here in balmy Montana. We were supposed to have a storm hit, but nothing yet. Temp is 28. Almost at freezing. I'd like a few days above freezing. But according to the weather page it's not going to happen.

Trust me - I've been considering making a purchase of something motorized that moves snow before next winter. And if it never snowed again, I'd be good with that too! It's one of those "If I need it, I have it" considerations.

Got out and fished in the snow today. During the time I was fishing it was more like sleet. The big, fluffy flakes didn't come later until I was getting ready to head back over the pass.

Here's one from Wednesday. The stereotypical fishing in the fog. It was a beauty of a day but no fish for me, either
That's a nice looking piece of water.

We were up at Ruby Reservoir hiking around and watching the ice fishing folks. Never tried this personally, but the locals say it's fun and they catch some nice fish. Some are designed like a truck camper with snow skids. We watched one being hauled out and onto the trailer. Every time I see ice-fishing, I think of Burgess Meredith, Walter Matthau, and Jack Lemmon.
