Have you tried visiting his web site and reading his descriptions and spec's to determine which reel or reels might fit your needs in terms of weight and capacity?

His reels are all well built. I bought one of his first trout sized reels from his first batch at an introductory price.

I own 3 spey co's . A river spey, circle spey and the 3 3/4 switch reel. All three of them I fish with confidence. If you call them you will end up taking with Tim the owner and he will answer any questions you might have, a great guy to deal with. I have never fished his trout reel but I do know they are built with the same standards as his larger reels.

Great American made reels!!

He's pretty entertaining to talk to. For as busy as he is he sure seems to have time to talk fishing, reels and rods.

I have one of his skagits. I'm quite happy with it.
I don't know anything about his trout reels.

I have 3 of the old ring spring gear and pawl speycos - one s-handle 3.75" switch and two plate wind 4" skagits, different appointments - as well as 5 of the newer hexad drag speycos - 3.75" plate wind switch, 3.875" full-frame circle, 2 plate wind 4" scandis and a 4" s-handle skagit.

They are pretty much bombproof.

There was a batch of bad Hexad springs a few years back, and I broke quite a few springs - I chatted with Tim about the problem and a week later I got a package of new and improved hexad springs, enough for all 5 of my reels.

Good reels for spraypoles.

Okay I'm just checking but you wrote it twice so I'm pretty sure it's not a typo but you have 5 of the one kind. So 11 total Speyco reels. Right on, man, good for you.

Your math is off.

3 of the old kind + 5 of the new kind = 8 total reels.

3 skagits - one full-plate gear/pawl, one recessed plate hexad and one s-handle hexad.
2 scandis - both plate, both hexad.
2 switches - one s-handle gear/pawl, one plate hexad.
1 circle spey, hexad.

Tim makes nice reels and backs them all up 100%. Great guy to deal with and as honest as the day is long. The man is as passionate as it gets for his craft. I've owned several Speyco's from the single check to hexad's and have a hexad on a bamboo currently. Call him...he'll get you lined out for the proper reel.
