How many guys Spring turkey hunt out there? I went this Friday and Saturday for my first time. I hiked my a$$ off looking for sign and came up a little frustrated. I went to three different areas , Teanaway, salmon La sac and the Taneum area. I have some basic calls and understand what to look for. Im just wondering if Im hunting in the wrong places? People say all the Turkeys are in the NE corner but there has to be some in the central Washington area? Im not looking for secret spots just a better idea on where to look. Thanks Jason

I’ve hunted turkeys for a lot of years in the colockum area with good success. Since the big fires though, they’ve been scarce. I think they moved to private land and inside the game reserve. I elk hunted along the south edge of the game preserve in September and saw a little turkey sign up there

The farther east you go the more turkeys there are. Highest populations are in the NE corner, then the SE corner and next would be the south central. I've got to go I just heard a bird gobble in my backyard! Tom

I bump into them all the time on the teanaway while fishing, i'd Be hunting up on the dirt road portion of the west fork road . Get yourself a owl hooter or a crow call , just before dusk drive around and blow the call every 1/2 mile or so and see if you get a shock response from a roosting bird , hunt there the next morning.
