What is your favorite pattern for Springers?

Cut plug herring. I haven't figured out how to cover springer holding and migration pathways in the Columbia with a fly rod, even my largest Spey rod.

I was thinking more in the tribs, like Cowlitz and Kalama.

I use black or purple leeches in low light on the tribs, small sparse orange or chartreuse on the Columbia below Bonneville.

Ya, it'd be sweet to see what people use. I haven't really targeted Chinook before, but will try this year on the Snake.

Of the flies I'm tying, I am currently most hopeful for this one.

I don't really target chinook. However, I have read that large bright intruder patterns work from time to time. This is for Alaska; not Washington. However, you might find it interesting.

Only springer landed for me was on a small pink marabou pattern while targeting bull trout on N. Sound River a few years ago. Have never really targeted spring chinook, but for fall chinook I have done quite well with all purple, purple and black, chartruese and purple, and dark blue/black combos. They seem to like the dumb bell eye patterns in the above listed colors.
