Kirk, those look very nice. The stiffness of the tubing should keep the tail from fouling the hook. Did you think about tying a trailing hook to sit amongst the tentacles? I might be worried about short strikes that you would miss. Do you plan on primarily trolling them (as when bucktailing for coho off Neah Bay) or casting them from the beach or a boat into a current line?

Steve- to be honest I just tied them because I liked the pattern. These are a blue water pattern for Florida or tuna. They are pretty stiff and wont foul because the "tail" feathers are tied to the hook with 40lb mono under the tube. If I was going to do it again, I would do a trailing hook but I tied these assembily line style and it was too late to add it by the time I thought about the second hook.
