Love those battle scars. maybe even rooting around on the bottom, scouring food? like blackmouth after sand lance.
Quite certain I saw you land that fish! Didn't make the connection until later...Landed a few there after you left, nothing as nice as the one you had.![]()
The ones I got this morning must have been all pretty boys..."Not the face! Not the face!" They would say before any potential confrontations![]()
Fuck man, I thought you said I got it. Was hard to hear you over my jealousy. No shit? See how courteous I was for swapping and letting you fish the better side? Started feeling sorry for your fishless effort over there haha
And why the hell didn't you come over to take a pic for me? You asked and I said yeah. Black Tundra was your rig right?
Tachroma haha nice!Fuck man, I thought you said I got it. Was hard to hear you over my jealousy.
My rig is Dark Grey, and it has a name. The Tachroma.
Casting a 5 weight with that wind sucked. The weather got nasty for a bit after you left. Couldn't see across the bay in the downpour. You throw to the right and could hit your backing. Throw to the left, 50 ft pile.Tachroma haha nice!
No wonder I had a feeling I was in the presence of greatness, could have had my Quickshooter line autographed.
Tell me, were you impressed with my casting? Nah it's all in the line![]()
Nope, don't think so.Regarding the scratches on the gill plates, I think they are caused by your leader when fighting the fish. A 'wrapped' coho ends up up with similar discoloration.
Haha I'm afraid that beach would have to renamed to Handsome beach if all 3 of us were there.Damn, had I known there would be a Lou sighting I would have actually accepted Gman's invitation to fish yesterday!
Nothing about those pictures makes me think they were somehow damaged by leader.
Makes me admire how hearty these fish are. I think the scars add a ton of character and make the fish look even cooler
Yessir all wrapped up for the season. I'm home and slowly getting back to normal so I've been busy but for sure hit me up I'll come wet a line with yaHaha I'm afraid that beach would have to renamed to Handsome beach if all 3 of us were there.
Are you done with the charter now Nick? I'll text you next time I head out in your vicinity!
I think it's just as likely those marks are just fresh marks from the fish's recent foraging. Nothing to feel bad about. What I always feel really bad about is when the fish has tried to remove the hook during the fight by scraping their face on the bottom. I have only seen this type of damage on beaches with large oyster beds. The wounds are obviously fresh. Really bums me out.
