Hello Friends,

I am heading on September 1st to Sunnyside, WA to kill some doves for a few days and looking for some ideas on where to fish after we limit on birds. We are aware of the great fishing on the Yakima River through the Canyon for trout, but looking for something different. We are open to anything and even have access to a boat if needed. Thanks for your suggestions

Well, you have 2 main choices. The Yakima River for trout up in the canyon, or smallmouth in the lower Yak. Fish Benton City down for the latter and throw streamers for lots of small smallmouth (they fight well) and every once in awhile a bigger one. If you are willing to drive further you could hit some of the streams up 410 (Hwy 12 tribs will be too high after the flip flop), or head to the Columbia for carp, smallmouth, walleye, or even steelhead (although they will be tough to target in the Columbia on the fly rod).
