Me too, although I don't remember much other than I still dislike diaper pins . . .
I was 13 years old then.
Did you guys have dirt back then?

not yet, we preceded that event! I do recall having to hustle to school so the dinosaurs wouldn't pick me off though!

One thing though-assuming we aren't under some serious cloud cover-is to use a moon filter on your scopes. I used to have an 8-inch scope which I decided to test out on the full moon right after I unboxed the thing. But not being used to the upside down backwards movement, I made the mistake of going from dark night sky to full moon in one quick motion. that was the end of my night vision for about a week..........
Thanks for the article Dean, hope it is good for offshore fishing because we are going out tomorrow.
So the obvious question is:

Will we catch bigger fish Monday night?

:p

Just outside. Mom kept the floor of the cave pretty clean; she kept on Dad about making something to help with that, but he & his buddies were preoccupied with trying to make fire . . .

I was around here in 1948.
Since I was born in '49 I guess you might say that I was in the research and development stage when the last one occurred.
Your Dad knew how to light a fire Jim? No wonder you still have all your fingers!
Talking about going back in time. I remember FDR's speech about the Japs bombing Pearl Harbor. Not the words, just remember hearing it. I was 6 at that time. It used to be a grand time listening to the radio on Sundays after lunch.

Uncle Stumpy finally figured it out, so the the duty fell to him.
Had great view here this morning @4am.

I made the mirror and built a 8 inch telescope when I was fourteen.

I looked at a crescent moon through the telescope and burned the image on my retina. I then looked away from the telescope at the night sky and immediately saw my first UFO!!!! As I looked at it....the UFO quickly moved across the sky!!!

After a couple of nights I realized that is was the retina burn and when I tried to look at it that caused it to "appear" to move.

But it was fun for a couple of nights to think at the age of 14 I saw a UFO.
