I have a couple of friends setting up camp for the week and I think I am heading over for the day on Saturday. Worried about the weather though.
Anyone else going to be in the area? just checking.

thanks

Saturday looks ugly. I'm hoping to get out somewhere on Sunday.
From Friday on it's wind, wind & more wind. I'll likely enhance my Halloween decoration collection when I make the mega leaf gather that I anticipate next week, lol.
lots of people with shotguns will be out this weekend.
Not to discourage travel over here so I can have the lake to myself, but we've got a pretty good rain coming down and one thing consistent about the Columbia Basin is: we get wind after it rains. About 90% of the time. Jeez, this is turning into an @Old Man weather report.

Over here in the real eastern Washington we have had rain for hours now. The 11:00 news last night said rain would arrive around 10-11:00 this morning so I thought I would have some time to put the back blade on my tractor. At 5:30 heavy rain woke me up so it's an indoor or shop day for sure. Heavy wind is expected later in the day and Sunday looks equally as bad. A good weekend to do a lot of that inside stuff that we have been putting off till a rainy day.

My friends are in the lot now and his report was: rain and more rain....
Howling here in Moses.

What a great weekend to duck hunt. Should be easy to get limits of ducks.

I'll bring a throw ring. I've seen two guys go into Lenice in the past year. But were fine - embarrassed, but fine. About a year ago another gentlemen was not so lucky.
Let's be safe out there.

Beautiful day Saturday. Light winds, warm, sunny with occasional dreamy wispy clouds.

didn't get on the water early, but had my first fish on a small variegated bugger, stripped fast with pauses (thinking of @Starman77 and his water boatman technique), within the first half hour of being on the water. thanks to @dp for clueing me into calibaetis nymphs after that, which worked both under an indicator, and on the strip.

fish were a consistent 16 inches in the measure net.

Flies that worked. The top nymph was donated by @dp. Thanks.

The little bugger has a mix of chenille in the body, variegated black and olive, as well as the gold flashy stuff. This is one of my goto flies fished on a type 5.

I fished the top nymph on an intermediate line, and the small one under the indicator.

mop flies got not love.:(

Did anyone check the water temp?

That top fly is very cool, quite different looking. I fished once with DP a few years ago on Dry Falls, then over at RF... he never offered that one up but did have some ice cold beer :).
nice fishing with you Jay. that fly is a Rickerts grey callebaetis. super on Ea. Wa. lakes in the fall. so is a thin olive bodied nymph with a longer tail. the second most productive fly for me was a small tan hares ear. I finished the day with 15 fish in the net and plenty of other takes. not a bad day. The weather was perfect and so were the water conditions. We shared the lake with about 15 other people.
the beer was ice cold too. Nice day to fish. I'll be back in a few weeks.

Jay i see you are tying Denny Rickets loop knot. Do you find that gets you more hits?

I often use a nonslip loop knot.
I really could not say myself whether I get more hits using it, but others recommend it and the reasoning to allow more fly movement seems sound.
