Gimped fly fisher in need of new hobby:

Anybody wanting to share a little knowledge and expertise in the bham area? I am laid up for a couple months with a badly broken leg, so I need to hone my steelhead fly tying skills (make that fly tying in general). I should be set up with a vise here soon, and maybe a bit of material, and LOTS of time to kill. Beers are on me, your place or mine, I can crutch myself about anywhere. PM or email

I continue to think that the B-ham crew could figure out a time/place for a monthly "meetup" of beer drinkers and fly tiers at a local pub/bar somewhere. you know, something with no agenda other than shooting the shit, tying some flies and getting out of the house.

But I'm not your man for fly tying instruction. I know nothing about the subject and have no time to learn.

I'll always meet with people at Boundary. Ed and I just had a "meeting" there last night. We did talk about fishing, so it counts.

Second option is the Copper Hog pub which has a pretty excellent selection of brews on tap and a different menu of food than Boundary.

Yeah, boundary does have that option for those who don't drink beer. But the hog does have good food and a great beer selection. Not to mention darts and footy on the TV.

Boundary Bay IPA and two Dynakings along with a butt load of materials and hooks.

I talked to Ed Bennett about it once. He said no problem setting up in the back area of the restaurant as long as we clean up afterwards.

If you ain't chasin them extinct "S" river steelhead Kerry, it'd be good to catch up to you.
